Ferdinand is the world's most peaceful—and—beloved little bull. While all of the other bulls snort, leap, and butt their heads, Ferdinand is content to just sit and smell the flowers under his favorite cork tree. Leaf's simple storytelling paired with Lawson's pen-and-ink drawings make The Story of Ferdinand a true classic. Commemorate the 75th anniversary of the book's original publication with this beautiful and affordable 8x8 paperback edition.

Ferdinand likes to sit quietly and smell the flowers, but one day he gets stung by a bee and his snorting and stomping convince everyone that he is the fiercest of bulls.

Because of his work's international appeal, Mr. Leaf and his wife were invited on three twenty-six-country tours under the auspices of the U.S. State Department, giving talks to children and to local educators and librarians. Mr. Leaf died in 1976.

Robert Lawson is the only person ever to receive both the Newbery and Caldecott Awards, for They Were Strong and Good and Rabbit Hill, respectively. Mr. Lawson died in 1957.
